Yet another Helvellyn bash - New Year 1999

Lots of people wanted in this time - so 2 routes, high level and round the lake.

The main objective was to minimise walk time and maximise hostelry time.

The low leveller's did much better than the roughnecks.

How did it go? Vast weather differences.

No-one cried off, and we even had two dogs. And many children. It was an "atmospheric" day, and the weather on top was a different world from the bottom. See for yourself.

A high leveller's view.................

Any old excuse at the start. High levellers get off to a cracking start!

It was an atmospheric day . Lonely dog in lonely scene

It was different higher up And even more different by the top!

The dog didn't like the top The rest of us didn't hang about either

But it got better later on.... The sun even came out (but not on us)
